CRAIG SPENCER
MANAGING DIRECTOR
Craig is the owner and Managing Director of Carter & Spencer Group. He has over 40 years experience in the fresh produce industry in supply, production and logistics, nationally and internationally.
Craig was instrumental in establishing protocols for new imported lines into Australia such as all New Zealand produce, USA cherries, grapes and stone fruit. He also established national supply programs of domestic and imported produce with supermarket chains, with many of these brands still major suppliers to the industry today.
Craig designed and built the first fully refrigerated fresh produce distribution centre in Australia, which became the benchmark for future DC’s around the country and in New Zealand.

CHRIS SPENCER
DIRECTOR - GROUP SALES​
Chris’ fresh produce career kicked off at the age of 17. He quickly learned the ropes in Carter & Spencer’s Brisbane production facilities – where stock was packed and sorted, primarily for supermarket chains and other retailers.
After over a year in the packing and distribution centre, he advanced into the trading side of the business, now holding a procurement and sales position with the Group. He manages diverse fresh produce programs with retailers big and small.

MATTHEW SPENCER
DIRECTOR - GROUP OPERATIONS
After completing his high school studies, Matthew was introduced to the fresh fruit and vegetable industry. Along with his brother Chris, he represents the 4th generation of Spencers involved in the business.
Matthew has quickly gained experience in different roles within the Group including transport and logistics for major retail chains, and the procurement and distribution of domestic and international produce. Matthew has been heavily involved with the Carter & Spencer Brisbane wholesale section, which was re-established in 2013. He now fronts Carter & Spencer's export sales and business development.

ANDREW CHRISTODOULOU
BUSINESS MANAGER - GROWING OPERATIONS

Andrew’s career in fresh produce began at the age of 9, working on weekends in fruit shops.
Andrew’s tenure at Carter & Spencer Group began in 1989, in their Townsville distribution centre. From there, he has been involved in many facets of the business – including procurement, distribution, importing, exporting, national supply strategy implementation, development and management of packing facilities, and more recently, vertical integration and farming operations.

JAMES CHRISTODOULOU
BUSINESS MANAGER - VEGETABLES​
James was introduced to the fresh produce industry when he was 7 years old, with weekends spent packing potatoes for the local fruit shop. He later owned and operated retail and wholesale/importing businesses, before joining Carter & Spencer Group in 2008.
James’s wealth of experience in sales and procurement has positioned him well for success in category and program management, specialising in South-East Queensland produce. His role ranges from involvement in farming operations through to representation in industry associations and James’ work directly with growers has resulted in a mutually-beneficial expansion of product lines.

WAYNE SPENCER
GENERAL MANAGER - NORTH QLD
Wayne began working at the Rocklea Markets as a child during the school holidays and naturally progressed to working full time for the company after completing his high school studies. Wayne was able to be mentored closely by his father, George Spencer and soon moved onto managing the wholesale section and serving on the board of Brismark. He then moved to Townsville to manage a new Distribution Centre for Carter & Spencer to better service the needs of the region.
Wayne continues to manage the Townsville Distribution Centre for almost 30 years. During this time, he was instrumental in assisting the development of direct supply to supermarkets, pre-packing, banana ripening, transportation management and much more. Wayne has an immense amount of experience and knowledge in the fresh produce industry and enjoys working in it.

ANTHONY JACKSON
GROUP SERVICES OFFICER

Anthony started with Carter & Spencer in 2007. He brings with him a wealth of experience in FMCG operations and quality assurance.
Prior to his current role, Anthony held management positions with various major fresh produce retailers across Australia.
He currently heads up several key areas across the Group, including Quality Assurance, Workplace Health & Safety, Workcover and all facets of Human Resources.

NEW ZEALAND
LEA ANDREW
MANAGER - SALES & PROCUREMENT, NZ

Lea Andrew has 18 years’ experience in the fresh produce industry, primarily with international trade between the US, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
Lea has spent time in Carter & Spencer’s New Zealand and Brisbane offices, and has managed national supply programs of imported produce with supermarket chains in both countries.
Lea is passionate about produce and specialises in seasonal programs into Australasia, notably of citrus, grapes, stone fruit and cherries.
